A 36 g mouse was injected with inorganic I-125 at the laboratory of Harvard Prof. Amin I. Kassis. It was euthanized a few minutes after injection and transported to NeuroPhysics in Shirley, Massachusetts.

Over the next two days a number of scans were performed with the company’s
MollyQ™ 50 high resolution SPECT scanner.

On this page we see a surface-rendered truncated section of the mouse extending from behind the nose to the thorax. Right and left side views of the section are shown in the top images. The section is gradually rotated coming to the straight-on image at the bottom.

The concentration of I-125 is depicted in a gray scale that transits to blue in the regions of highest activity.

Tissue assay gave a total of 2410 µCi (67 µCi/g). Since the specific activity of muscle samples was 98 µCi/g, over half of the total was taken up by muscle.
